Paleface, a western/horror short film, was filmed earlier this year at Copper Canyon Ranch in Christian County. The film is about an outlaw who finds that blood money has its own price as he comes face to face with a supernatural vigilante.

The film is written by Matt Long and co-directed by Matt Green. The two have met at other film festivals and decided to collaborate along with many others to bring the film, Paleface, together.

“I hadn’t made a film in a while and the name Paleface popped in my head. So, I studied the name, origin, and where it came from, and found one of the meanings is a name Native Americans called white men. So, I decided to go with a western theme,” said Long.

Matt Green has spent 10 years working for Copper Canyon Ranch, where he and other actors and filmmakers perform western reenactments. Green expressed his gratitude to the owner of the ranch, Tim Emery, for letting them utilize the property and for taking part in the movie.

“You really can’t find that kind of production value outside of Hollywood,” said Green.

The Copper Canyon Ranch’s property includes many 1800s-themed buildings as well as a ghost town. Green shares the location was one of the major keys to selling the story.

The cast includes Jaye Jameson from Christian County and many others from the surrounding areas. They look forward to premiering the new, fun short film for the community. Long shares the film has an underlying message of ‘reaping what you sow’ and hopes the film will convey that message to the audience.

“I always appreciate the opportunity to shoot with and in Christian County. There is a good community that love the films and do what they can to make it possible,” said Long.

The film will premiere this Sunday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. at The Palace Theatre in Greenville for free admission. Red carpet pictures/meet & greet will begin at 6:30 p.m.
